  • For the best light: the planner shows sunrise, sunset and the direction of the light for every spot.
  • Many fire lookouts sit at the end of a hike; the Forest Service even rents some of them out for the night.
  • High spots are cooler and windier than the valley – a jacket pays off even in summer.
